Have you seen any 100+ mph cats lately? Throw a stick at your local lake hotspot and you're sure to hit a few! OK now, how about Ford powered 100+ mph cats? Now the field becomes substantially reduced to the point you could probably count them on one hand! Phil Currie owns one of these boats that dares to run against the tide of the standard big block Chevy powered fare.

Phil commissioned Dave's Custom Boats to build him a suitable hull for his dream of triple digit Ford motivation. What he got was one of DCB's beautiful 2001 26 foot cats. The striking gel-coat set's it apart from the rest, but the next thing you notice is that "bug-catcher" sticking out of the hatch. Has to be one of those air cleaners that bolts over two carbs, right? Wrong, that's an injector scoop that has been set up with electronic fuel injection! The horsepower is supplied by one of Dearborne's blue oval big blocks that now displaces 540 cubic inches. The motor was built by GT Performance and includes such goodies as the obvious supercharger and fuel injection, MSD ignition and Lightning headers. All this horsepower is turned into forward thrust using an IMCO Advantage SC outdrive. So, does it run? How about 130 mph? Phil can be found cruising the waters of Lake Havasu most summer weekends.
