Russ and Stephanie Lindsey own this 2002 29-foot Powerquest. The boat came from the factory with a pair of Mercruiser 6.2 liter smallblocks. Prior to their purchasing the boat, the previous owner bolted on a pair ATI Procharger centrifugal superchargers.
After a weekend of fun at Lake Havasu, one engine developed the death knell knock and quit running. The boat was taken to the dealer and the motor removed and disassembled. They found broken piston ring lands, bent valves and other destruction.
Both motors were beefed up with forged pistons, blower cams, Eddie Marine exhaust and ported & polished cylinder heads.
The boat is back on the water and the fuel injected motors are being dialed in to better work with the superchargers boost. Some prop testing is now needed to utilize the approximate 600 horsepower each motor now sends to the Bravo 1 outdrives. Top speed is anticipated to be in the 80 mph range.
