Prior to the late 90's the nitro funny cars that ran on the NHRA circuit didn't always have a blow out panel built into the "hood" of the fiberglass body. Whan a car had a blower explosion, the resulting massive increase in pressure under the body typically launched that body skyward! This is a sequence with the Nitro Bandit at Firebird Raceway.
