October 2004, after all these years, I'd never been to a sprint car race. Bill Griffin's neighbor runs a car at the local track, Manzanita Raceway in Phoenix. Donnie Henson and I decided to go to the track and watch the action. I learned a lot about sprint cars during this event. The bigger cars are called 360's, cubic inches that is, the other class is called Mini-Sprints and run 750 cc motorcycle engines. These guys drive like no tomorrow averaging 90+ mph lap speeds, coming around the corners sideways! Click on the thumbnails for a larger view.
