Bob Bondurant runs a high performance driving school on the property of Firebird Raceway just outside of Phoenix, AZ. After many years of running Ford vehicles, he switched over to Chevrolet. OK, what do they do with their Ford school cars? Why not sell them and get a class started to race them? Working with a local race association, Pro Autosports, (www.proautosports.com) a class was formed, named tongue in cheek, Bondostang! These cars are Mustang GT's, they retain their stock drivetrain except for a reprogrammed computer and removal of all emissions controls. The car was beefed up with a roll cage, fuel cell, heavy duty radiator, fire suppression system and an assortment of upgraded suspension and braking components.
Most of the racing takes place on the 3 road courses located at Firebird Raceway.
We're going to try and keep up the page with some pictures and have the race results posted shortly after each outing. We'll include some photos of some of the other classes as well.
