January 2006

The 35th annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction held in Scottsdale, AZ. The weather was much better than last years damp affair. I went on Wednesday this year to try and get some better pictures. You still have to contend with tent poles and some people, but it's not the circus you'll see on the weekend!

The main tent was quite a bit larger this year with quite a bit more seating capacity. The huge screen to the right of the stage showed each car and the current bid.

FORD

Ford and Chrysler appeared to be the major sponsors this year and had nice displays showcasing all of their latest models.

This 2007 Shelby GT500 was put on the auction block Saturday. Carroll Shelby and Edsel Ford presented the car. The bidders were vying for not for this particular car, which isn't a "production" model, but for the rights to have the first GT500 offered to the public built to their specifications. The winner also will received a tour of the SVT shop where the cars will be assembled, and a huge matching tool chest. The winner had to go to $600,000 for this prize

A convertible model was also on hand.
