GO FAST RACER!

Art Anderson is a die-hard proponent of using the tried and true v-drive for his boating speed needs. He's had nothing but v-drives over his 20 plus years  of hot-boating. Whether he was mixing it up in sanctioned Super Stock, Grand National or dragboats or merely running the Colorado River just for fun, the motor's always been installed backwards!

Here are some of Art's past rides and his two current rides.

One of the first v-drives that Art owned was this Stevens flattie. It was a fun boat that originally came with a 406 cubic inch Ford FE motor. The 406 eventually gave up it's spot between the stringers for one of it's bigger brothers, the venerable 427 Ford.

Another boat that Art had was this Lavey. Equipped with a big block Chevy,Art campaigned this boat in various classes running it as a circle boat and a drag boat over the years. The motor has used a tunnel ram with dual quads and was even equipped with Crower fuel injection for a time!

Next up was a D'Cucci. Art bought the boat as a brand new bare hull in 1986 and set about rigging it himself. The hull only weighed 450 pounds. The boat was built to be a Super Stock contender. Motivation was courtesy of a 30 over 427 Chevy equipped with 990 heads and a Crane flat tappet cam. Fuel delivery was handled by an 850 Holley mounted on a dual plane manifold. The boat ran 105 mph and 10.0 on the clocks.

Now we're at Art's current ride, a Daytona Sprint built by Bob Long. Art's had this boat since about 1992. This was an old K Boat called The Hobbit. The boat was originally equipped with a 427 big block Chevy. The 427 shortblock was sold and the boat sat for a while. Not wanting to sit out a boating season, Art threw together a low compression 468 using the old 427 heads and cam. This looks like a boat that would be at home at a custom car show with all the anodized hardware and beautiful rigging! The boat ran with a tunnel ram for quite some time, but that induction has been recently replaced with Art's preferred method of induction, Crower injectors!

So you've had four nice boats, what now? Hit the V to see Art's latest project!
