Jett Field is a racer in the NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car ranks. These cars pack about 500+ cubic inches of alcohol burning hemi's and can cover the 1/4 mile in less than 5 seconds at 250 mph!  About 6 or 7 years ago the Arizona Nationals were being held outside of Phoenix, AZ. The track had been resurfaced a week or so prior to the start of the race. However, the concrete starting pad was starting to come up in clumps. The cars would launch, go about 300 feet and then at the point where the track transitions to asphalt, things would get interesting! I started tracking all cars as they launched with my camera set on auto. Jett got out of this incident with a few bumps and bruises but the car was history. I even got Jett to autograph an 8 X 10 I had made of one of the sequences the following year when he returned to Firebird. He did say that he wished more folks would ask for his autograph based on his first 5 second run then this incident. I guess we'd all rather be remembered for our accomplishments instead of our follies!
